The Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat has warned that a forged Demi-Official (D.O.) letter is being circulated in the name of the Deputy Speaker to seek undue facilities from ministries and government offices.

In a press release issued on Monday, the Secretariat said the fake letter used the Deputy Speaker’s name along with a forged signature, official letterhead, government logo, and memo number.

The matter came to light after the document was submitted to various ministries and departments.

The Secretariat firmly stated that the letter was not issued by the Jatiya Sangsad and has no connection with the Parliament. It emphasized that unauthorized use of the Parliament’s name, logo, or official identity through forgery to mislead authorities or the public is a punishable offence.

Authorities have been instructed to take necessary legal action against those involved, the release added.

The Secretariat also urged government and private institutions, media organizations, and the public to verify any D.O. letter or official correspondence claiming to be from Parliament with the relevant office before taking action.
