District health authorities sealed a diagnostic centre and a private healthcare facility and fined three institutions a total of Tk 1.6 lakh during a crackdown on licensing violations, environmental non-compliance and other irregularities in Manikganj.
The mobile court conducted the drive at several private clinics and diagnostic centres in the municipal area on Wednesday noon under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr Ivy Ferdous.
During the inspection, officials found that Darus Salam Diagnostic Centre and Shushrusha Health Care had failed to renew their licences and were operating without complying with required environmental standards and other regulatory conditions.
Both facilities were subsequently sealed and fined Tk 40,000 each, bringing the combined penalty to Tk 80,000.
Meanwhile, Nagar Diagnostic Centre, located near the municipal building, was fined Tk 40,000 for failing to renew its licence. Authorities directed the facility to complete the licence renewal process without delay.
Health department officials said regular inspections were being conducted to ensure that private healthcare institutions comply with government regulations and maintain prescribed standards of service and safety.
Civil Surgeon Dr Ivy Ferdous said the campaign against irregularities at healthcare institutions would continue in the public interest.
