Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman on Thursday said Bangladesh-United States relations are moving in a positive direction, describing his meeting with US President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, as “very positive and constructive.”
“We discussed the entire range of bilateral issues, and the talks were held in a very cordial atmosphere. Bangladesh-US relations are moving in a positive direction,” he told reporters after the meeting in Dhaka.
The foreign minister said the discussions covered trade, investment, security cooperation, regional issues and other matters of mutual interest, expressing optimism that the engagement would further strengthen ties between the two countries.
Sergio Gor arrived in Dhaka earlier in the day on a three-day visit.
During his stay, the US official is expected to hold meetings with senior government officers and visit Cox’s Bazar to observe the Rohingya situation.
The visit comes as Dhaka and Washington seek to deepen cooperation on a range of bilateral and regional issues.
