A long-standing rivalry between two local groups turned deadly in Narsingdi’s Raipura upazila on Sunday morning, leaving one man dead and three others injured in a gun attack.
The incident occurred in Saudagarkandi village, where armed supporters of the so-called “Farid Group” allegedly stormed the home of Momen Mia, 55, around 7:00am. They opened fire, critically injuring Momen and three others.
Momen Mia, son of Dhon Mia, sustained bullet wounds to his head and legs. He was rushed to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The আহত—Mobarak (65), Nazmul Hossain (30), and Ruhul Amin (37)—were admitted to Raipura Upazila Health Complex and are currently receiving treatment.
According to Raipura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mojinur Rahman, the attack was the result of a prolonged feud between the “Farid Group” and the “Momen Chairman Group.”
In response to the violence, additional police forces have been deployed in the এলাকায় to prevent further escalation and maintain order.
