A man allegedly stabbed his wife and mother-in-law to death in Dhaka’s Kalabagan area after returning from a family wedding, police said.
The suspect later walked into a police station carrying his 14-month-old son and confessed to the killings.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning in the Kathalbagan area.
The victims were identified as Farzana Akter Ratri, 21, and her mother, Firoza Begum.
According to investigators and family members, the couple had a long history of marital disputes and frequent quarrels.
Relatives said the couple argued during a wedding ceremony in Gosairhat, Shariatpur, two days earlier.
The disagreement reportedly continued after the family returned to Dhaka.
On Sunday morning, the husband, identified as Hridoy Shipon, went to his in-laws’ home, where another argument broke out.
Police said he allegedly stabbed his wife, and when her mother tried to intervene, she was also attacked.
After the attack, Shipon took the couple’s young son and went directly to Kalabagan Police Station, where he reportedly told officers, “I committed murder.”
Police immediately detained him and recovered the bodies from the house.
Family members alleged that Shipon had a history of physically abusing his wife and was often involved in domestic conflicts.
Police have launched an investigation into the double murder.
