At least eight more Palestinians have been killed in fresh Israeli attacks across the besieged Gaza Strip, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense authority.
The latest strikes came just two days after U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled the “Board of Peace” initiative—a 15-point roadmap calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and the disarmament of Hamas, Reuters reported.
On Sunday, Gaza’s Civil Defense said an Israeli helicopter strike targeted an apartment south of Deir al-Balah, killing a man and a woman. Separate attacks across the enclave also claimed more lives, including three people in Khan Younis and one in Gaza City’s Old City.
A day earlier, on Saturday, an Israeli strike completely destroyed a medical supplies warehouse in central Gaza.
Under the newly proposed U.S.-backed peace framework, Hamas would disarm and Israeli forces would withdraw from Gaza. However, the plan has yet to be implemented.
Hamas has stated that it will only consider laying down its weapons if Israel completely halts its military operations and withdraws all troops from Gaza.
Meanwhile, an Israeli official told Reuters that Israeli forces would not withdraw from their current positions until Hamas is fully disarmed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet publicly commented on the latest peace initiative.
