Bangladesh’s Power Division has rejected allegations of excessive electricity bills, describing reports circulating on social media and other platforms as misleading and intended to create public confusion.
In a statement issued on Monday, the division said some individuals and groups were spreading false information regarding inflated electricity bills, warning that those deliberately disseminating misinformation could face legal action under existing laws.
The Power Division, however, said consumers who believe they have received unusually high electricity bills should lodge complaints with the relevant electricity distribution company, accompanied by supporting evidence.
It assured consumers that all genuine complaints would be investigated and resolved in accordance with established procedures.
The statement also urged the public not to be misled by unverified claims and to rely on official channels for information regarding electricity billing and related services.
