Dhaka: After inaugurating the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman toured its galleries and viewed exhibits documenting the 2024 July Mass Uprising. During the visit, he listened to a recorded phone call of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through a red telephone preserved as part of the museum’s collection.
The Prime Minister officially inaugurated the museum on Wednesday (August 5) by unveiling its plaque at 9:00 a.m.
Following the inauguration, he toured the museum with invited guests, observing photographs, historical documents, memorabilia, and exhibits that chronicle the events, sacrifices, and struggle surrounding the July Mass Uprising. During the tour, he listened to Sheikh Hasina’s recorded call using the preserved red telephone display.
The museum has been established to preserve the history, sacrifices, and legacy of the July Mass Uprising and to pass them on to future generations.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by government ministers, senior military and civilian officials, members of the families of those killed during the uprising, and other invited guests.
While the opening day was reserved for special guests and the families of the victims, the museum will be open to the general public from Thursday (August 6).
