The Embassy of Bangladesh in Rabat on Wednesday observed July Mass Uprising Day 2026 with due solemnity, paying tribute to those who lost their lives during the July-August 2024 Mass Uprising and reaffirming Bangladesh’s commitment to building a just, inclusive and democratic society.
The programme began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco Sadia Faizunnesa read out the messages of the Acting President and Prime Minister issued on the occasion, while Counsellor Rajib Tripura delivered the messages of the Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs.
As part of the observance, two special documentaries produced by the Government of Bangladesh on the July 2024 Mass Uprising were screened, highlighting the movement and the sacrifices made by those who participated in it.
The programme concluded with special prayers seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Sadia Faizunnesa paid profound tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the movement against the then government in July and August 2024.
She also acknowledged the role of young people who led the movement and called on all Bangladeshis to uphold the ideals of the July Mass Uprising by working towards a just, inclusive and discrimination-free society.
The ambassador said the government, guided by the principle of “Bangladesh First” and under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is working to fulfil the aspirations of both the 1971 Liberation War and the spirit of the July Mass Uprising of 2024.
The event was attended by members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community, Moroccan nationals, foreign residents, and officials and staff of the Bangladesh Embassy in Rabat.
