Five more children die with measles symptoms

Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, 124 new measles cases were laboratory-confirmed, while 959 additional suspected cases were reported.

The DGHS said all five children who died were from the Dhaka Division.

However, none of the deaths were laboratory-confirmed as being caused by measles.

Since March 15 this year, a total of 758 deaths with measles symptoms have been recorded, including 96 laboratory-confirmed measles deaths.

Over the same period, the number of confirmed measles cases has risen to 16,655, while suspected cases have reached 132,905.

The DGHS also reported that 124 measles patients were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 115,234 patients have been hospitalized, of whom 111,005 have been discharged after recovery.
