Fire breaks out in parked bus in Gazipur

A passenger bus caught fire while parked beside the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Kaliakair, Gazipur, on Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 3pm at the Kaliakair bus stand area. Locals spotted flames coming from the rear of a Rajdhani Paribahan bus and alerted the Fire Service after their attempts to put out the blaze failed.

Firefighters reached the scene and brought the fire under control after around 30 minutes. However, most of the bus had already been gutted by the time they arrived.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be immediately determined. Authorities said an investigation is underway.
