Bangladesh received US$915 million in workers’ remittances during the first eight days of August, marking a 42.9 per cent increase from the US$640 million received during the same period last year.
According to the latest data, expatriate Bangladeshis sent US$313 million in remittances between August 6 and 8 alone.
Remittance inflows totalled US$3.773 billion between July 1 and August 8 of the current fiscal year (FY2026-27), compared with US$3.118 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
The figures represent a 21.0 per cent year-on-year increase in remittance inflows during the period, underscoring the continued strong contribution of Bangladeshi migrant workers to the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
The sustained growth in remittances is also expected to support Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves and strengthen the external sector amid ongoing efforts to stabilise the economy.
