Kuwait has congratulated Pakistan on its newly signed defence agreement with Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, calling it a significant step toward strengthening regional security cooperation.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah conveyed his congratulations during a late-night phone call with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar.
The two leaders discussed the recently signed Mecca Joint Defence Agreement and exchanged views on the broader regional situation, including developments in occupied East Jerusalem.
The conversation also focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Kuwait. Both sides reviewed outcomes from the Kuwaiti minister’s recent visit to Pakistan and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation and investment across key sectors.
The Mecca agreement was signed on Friday in Saudi Arabia by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The pact states that an armed attack on any one of the three nations will be treated as an attack on all, aiming to boost collective deterrence and deepen defence collaboration.
Analysts see the agreement as a strategic move to reinforce regional alliances amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
