Iran has called on neighbouring countries to strengthen regional cooperation, stressing that lasting security can only be achieved without outside intervention.
Speaking at a media briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei dismissed suggestions that the recent defence pact between Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan could resemble an “Islamic NATO.” He reiterated that the region does not require external powers to maintain stability.
“We do not need any outside powers to intervene in our region,” Baghaei said, adding that tensions still persist but can be addressed through collective regional efforts.
He expressed hope that countries in the region would learn from recent developments and work together more closely. “We hope all countries… work hard to strengthen the collective security of our region,” he added.
The remarks highlight Iran’s continued emphasis on regional self-reliance amid shifting alliances and evolving geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East.
