The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has launched a month-long mobile phone servicing and repair training programme for youths in the border areas of Sapahar upazila in Naogaon district, aiming to create alternative employment opportunities and discourage involvement in smuggling, drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) organised the training at the Border Technical Training Centre located at Aihai Union Parishad on 9 August, according to a BGB press release issued today.
A total of 27 unemployed young men from Aihai Union are taking part in the programme, which will continue until 3 September.
Participants will receive both theoretical and practical training on diagnosing, repairing and maintaining mobile phone hardware and software issues, along with learning modern mobile servicing technologies.
Two skilled local trainers, selected by the Department of Youth Development, are conducting the sessions.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commander of Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
The opening ceremony was attended by local administration officials, elected representatives, youth development officials and journalists.
The BGB commander expressed hope that such initiatives would help transform border-area youths into skilled, self-reliant and productive members of society, while also creating sustainable self-employment opportunities.
