Gen Z protests erupt again across India

10 August 2026 22:01 Updated: 10 August 2026 22:01

India is once again witnessing street protests led largely by Generation Z, with young people taking to the streets over concerns about the country’s education system, recruitment examinations and alleged irregularities.

The latest protests have been particularly visible in Jharkhand, where students and young activists have demonstrated against allegations of question-paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment examinations.

The renewed mobilisation comes after weeks of Gen Z-led protests in Delhi and other parts of India.

The earlier movement put significant pressure on the government and contributed to the resignation of the education minister after protesters raised demands for reforms and accountability.

Young protesters have increasingly used social media to organise demonstrations and amplify their demands, reflecting a broader wave of Gen Z activism across South Asia.
