The Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia has sought the family of a Bangladeshi migrant worker who died of ischaemic heart disease, as his body remains at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
In a notice issued on Wednesday (August 12), the High Commission said the worker, Deen Islam, died on July 25 from ischaemic heart disease caused by coronary artery disease.
According to passport and visa information provided by his employer, the deceased was identified as Deen Mohammad, son of Abdul Haque. His passport lists his address as Rajabari, Brahmanpara, Cumilla Sadar, Cumilla, Bangladesh.
The High Commission said it had contacted the relevant local administration in Bangladesh to trace the deceased’s family and facilitate the return of his body.
However, authorities have so far been unable to verify his exact address or locate any family members or relatives based on the information available in his passport.
As a result, the High Commission said no decision could yet be taken on whether to repatriate the body to Bangladesh or arrange for his burial in Malaysia.
It urged Bangladeshi expatriates living in Malaysia who may have information about Deen Mohammad, his family or relatives to contact the Bangladesh High Commission as soon as possible.
The mission said that once his family is traced, the necessary arrangements can be made to repatriate the body to Bangladesh or take other appropriate measures.
