BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has resigned from his ministerial responsibilities after being nominated by the party as its candidate for president.
Salahuddin Ahmed, the current Home Minister and a member of the BNP National Standing Committee, is set to take charge of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Ministry, according to government sources.
Meanwhile, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anni, who currently serves as the Water Resources Minister, is expected to take over the Home Ministry from Salahuddin.
Fakhrul stepped down from his parliamentary and administrative positions after the BNP announced his nomination for the presidency. His resignation has prompted the government to reassign responsibilities to ensure continuity in the administration of the LGRD Ministry.
The proposed changes are expected to be formalised soon, with Salahuddin moving to the LGRD Ministry and Anni taking charge of Home Affairs.
