Tanzid Hasan Tamim is closing in on his maiden Test century as Bangladesh continued their dominant batting display against Australia on the second day of the first Test in Darwin.
Bangladesh reached 181 for 2 at lunch, trailing Australia by just 17 runs after the hosts were dismissed for 198 in their first innings.
Tamim was unbeaten on 74, while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was not out on 28.
Tamim, playing only his second Test, batted confidently and built a valuable partnership with Shanto after Mominul Haque fell for 49, one run short of his half-century.
Mominul faced 95 balls and struck eight boundaries before edging Josh Hazlewood to the wicketkeeper.
Bangladesh had resumed the day at 96 for 1, with Mominul and Tamim at the crease.
The visitors now have an excellent opportunity to take a first-innings lead and put Australia under further pressure.
Tamim needs 26 more runs to reach his century.
