Summit LNG Terminal resumed gas supply to Bangladesh’s national gas grid at 6:10pm on Friday, gradually restoring supplies from its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).
A Summit spokesperson said the terminal was initially supplying around 110 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD), with plans to gradually increase the flow to its full capacity of 550 MMCFD by 2am Saturday.
The increased supply is expected to improve gas availability for industries, power plants and other consumers, helping support economic activity while easing pressure on the country’s energy system.
Petrobangla Chairman Abdul Mannan confirmed that Summit began supplying gas from its FSRU on Friday evening.
“We expect gas pressure to gradually increase and reach full supply capacity by midnight,” he said.
Mannan added that gas supply from Excelerate Energy’s FSRU was also continuing to help boost overall availability in the national grid.
