Spain forward Ferran Torres has left Barcelona to join French champions Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth around €50 million.

PSG confirmed the signing of the 26-year-old on Saturday, with Torres signing a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

“I’m delighted to begin this new chapter at such an ambitious club,” Torres said after completing the move. “I want to help the team win as many trophies as possible.”

Torres spent four-and-a-half seasons at Barcelona after joining the Catalan club in the 2021-22 season. He made 207 appearances, scoring 65 goals.

The forward enjoyed his most productive campaign last season, scoring 21 goals and providing three assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Torres also played a decisive role for Spain at the recently concluded World Cup. Coming on as a substitute in extra time in the final against Argentina, he scored the winning goal as Spain secured a 1-0 victory and retained the World Cup title.

At PSG, Torres will reunite with Luis Enrique, who handed him his Spain debut in 2020 during a Nations League match against Germany.

His arrival could also have implications for the future of another PSG winger, Bradley Barcola. Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing the Frenchman, but negotiations have yet to progress, with PSG demanding around €150 million for the 23-year-old.

Torres’ move adds further attacking depth to a PSG squad aiming to maintain its dominance in France and compete for major European honours.
