Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop has praised Bangladesh after their historic nine-wicket Test victory over Australia in Darwin, saying the team now deserves the recognition it has long been denied.
Bishop, a longtime admirer of Bangladesh cricket, wrote on his X account that the victory was “truly a historic achievement” for Bangladesh cricket and its people.
“Now is the time to give them the respect they deserve—the recognition that may not have been given sufficiently by many before,” Bishop said.
He credited several players for the historic triumph, including Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Tanzid Hasan, while singling out fast bowler Hasan Mahmud for special praise.
“Hasan Mahmud has been bowling with excellent control of line and length for several years. His bowling action is also very effective and rhythmic,” Bishop wrote.
He also congratulated head coach Phil Simmons and his entire coaching team, describing Bangladesh’s victory as a remarkable achievement.
