Eastern University hosted a day-long Skill & Employability Summit 2026 on Saturday under the theme “Campus to Corporate”, bringing students and corporate professionals together to help bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace requirements.
The summit aimed to equip students with practical skills and a better understanding of the job market, while providing them with direct access to potential employers and career opportunities.
Eastern University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Farid A. Sobhani delivered the keynote address at the opening session. Dean of the Department of Business Administration Prof Brig Gen Dr A K M Iqbal Azim and Treasurer Prof Md Shamsul Huda delivered the welcome addresses.
One of the key attractions of the summit was the participation of a number of leading organisations offering potential employment opportunities. Students were able to visit company booths, learn about available positions and submit their CVs directly to prospective employers.
The participating organisations will review the submitted CVs and shortlist suitable candidates for relevant vacancies, according to the organisers. The overall activities of the summit were coordinated by job platform Skill Jobs.
Beyond recruitment opportunities, the summit placed strong emphasis on developing students’ professional and employability skills.
Throughout the day, experienced corporate professionals from different sectors conducted sessions on CV writing, interview preparation, workplace skills, leadership, teamwork and career planning. They also shared practical guidance on developing professional skills suited to the changing corporate environment.
Discussions also focused on preparing students for their future careers, developing workplace competencies, building a personal brand, fostering innovative thinking and a growth-oriented mindset, improving self-awareness and enhancing employability.
The sessions provided students with an opportunity to gain a first-hand understanding of employers’ expectations and the skills required in real-world workplaces, complementing their academic education with practical career-oriented knowledge.
