Iranian Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami has warned US President Donald Trump against making remarks about the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iran has defenders who would “break your legs.”
Hatami made the remarks on Sunday, August 16, in response to Trump’s comments about the strategic waterway.
He said treating such statements as a joke would be a “major mistake” and stressed that the Strait of Hormuz is protected by Iran.
Hatami also said US forces had effectively been driven out of the region and no longer had permission to enter the Gulf, the Sea of Oman or the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports citing Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global shipping route and a key artery for international oil supplies, making tensions over its status particularly significant for global energy markets.
