The much-anticipated ‘Soccerama’ concert featuring four leading Bangladeshi bands has been postponed at the last minute.
The concert was scheduled to take place on Tuesday (August 18) at the United Convention Centre in Dhaka.
However, the organisers decided to defer the event, citing preparations to make it larger and more comprehensive, along with security concerns and a government directive requiring all cultural programmes to conclude by 8pm.
Band Chirkutt announced the postponement on social media on Monday afternoon. The organisers said a new date for the concert would be announced soon.
Organised by Link 3 and Affordable Venture Limited, Soccerama was planned as a fusion of football and music.
Argentine football legend Claudio Caniggia was also scheduled to attend the event.
His Bangladesh visit, however, will reportedly go ahead as planned despite the concert being postponed.
Besides Chirkutt, Artscell, Nemesis and Odd Signature were scheduled to perform at the concert.
Tickets had already gone on sale through the ticketing platform Tickify.
