A high-level delegation from China Railway Group Corporation Limited (CRCC), the contractor of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project, held a meeting with the Secretary of the Bridges Division on Tuesday to discuss measures to expedite the construction work.

CRCC Chairman Wu Yankun led the delegation at the meeting held on August 18.

Bridges Division Secretary and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority Md Abdur Rouf said the country’s transport system is undergoing a major transformation under the current government.

He said the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway, once completed, would significantly improve road connectivity between Dhaka and the northern and western regions of the country.

The project is also expected to bring major changes to connectivity among Dhaka, Savar, Ashulia and the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (EPZ), while ensuring smoother road communication between the capital and northern districts.

Wu Yankun thanked the Bangladesh government, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Bridges Division for their cooperation.

He expressed the company’s commitment to completing the project within the stipulated timeframe by deploying international-standard engineering technology and increasing manpower, equipment and material supplies.

At the meeting, the Bridges Division secretary stressed the need for adequate traffic management, proper signage and enhanced safety measures in the construction areas to ensure uninterrupted movement of the public.
