Seven more children died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,031 children were newly reported with confirmed or suspected measles infections, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The figures were released in the DGHS’s updated measles situation report on Sunday afternoon.
According to the report, although seven children died with measles symptoms during the reporting period, no laboratory-confirmed measles deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.
Since March 15, a total of 645 children have died with measles-like symptoms, while 93 children have died from confirmed measles infections, bringing the combined death toll to 738.
During the same 24-hour period, 106 children were confirmed to have measles, while 925 others were reported with suspected measles symptoms.
The report also said 878 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 904 patients were discharged after treatment.
Since March 15, Bangladesh has recorded 105,618 suspected measles cases and 12,632 laboratory-confirmed infections. Of them, 88,844 patients have been hospitalised, while 85,122 have since been discharged.
