India has said discussions with Bangladesh on the Ganges Water Sharing Treaty and other river-related issues are continuing at the technical level.
Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made the remarks at a regular media briefing in New Delhi on Friday, responding to a question about the future of the treaty.
Jaiswal said all river-related issues between India and Bangladesh are discussed under the framework of the Joint Rivers Commission.
He added that meetings of the joint committee under the Ganges Water Treaty are also held regularly at the technical level.
The 1996 Ganges Water Sharing Treaty, signed for 30 years, is set to expire in December 2026.
