Rajshahi-bound barendra express breaks down

The Rajshahi-bound Barendra Express broke down in the Puranapul area of Joypurhat on Saturday morning after the coil spring and body of one of its coaches broke, disrupting rail services in the northern region.

The train, which was travelling from Chilahati to Rajshahi, became stranded on the railway track shortly after passing the Puranapul railway crossing.

The sudden mechanical failure caused the affected coach to drop onto the track.

Train director Anwar Hossain said the problem was detected quickly, allowing the driver to stop the train and avert a major accident. No casualties were reported.

Railway authorities have sent a relief train and mechanical personnel to the site to remove the disabled coach and restore train services.
