Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed made an unannounced visit to Tejgaon Police Station in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon, inspecting the overall law and order situation, infrastructure and the quality of police services provided to citizens.
During the visit, the minister toured various sections of the police station, including administrative offices, the duty officer’s room, investigation officers’ offices, the lock-up, police barracks and dining facilities.
He also spoke with police personnel about their working conditions, night duties and shift schedules.
Ahmed inspected the barracks and inquired about the accommodation, food quality and cleanliness for police personnel.
He also spoke directly with citizens who had come to the station to file general diaries or complaints and listened to their grievances.
The minister instructed the officer-in-charge and other officials to ensure that citizens’ complaints are resolved quickly and transparently.
“Police’s primary responsibility is to protect and serve the people,” Ahmed said, stressing that every police station must become a place of trust for citizens where they can report their problems directly without intermediaries.
Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, among other senior police officials, were present during the visit.
