A delegation from Brazil will arrive in Dhaka today to inspect the National Stadium, ahead of the five-time world champions’ friendly match against India in Kolkata on October 3.

The Brazilian delegation will visit the stadium and assess its facilities, raising speculation over whether the Seleção could potentially play a match in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) member Iqbal Hossain told Bangla Tribune that the Brazilian delegation is scheduled to visit the National Stadium this afternoon to inspect the facilities and assess whether the venue meets the requirements for hosting a match.

Asked whether Brazil could play in Bangladesh, Iqbal said it was too early to confirm. He said the delegation would first inspect the stadium and other facilities before deciding what it wants to do.

“We certainly want Brazil to play here,” he said.

Argentina previously visited Bangladesh on September 6, 2011. Lionel Messi and his teammates played a friendly against Nigeria at the then Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, winning the match 3-1.
