271 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hours

Bangladesh recorded 271 new dengue hospitalisations in the 24 hours ending Sunday morning, bringing the total number of confirmed dengue cases this year to 6,871, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The country’s dengue-related death toll remained at 19 during the same period, the DGHS said in its latest update.

According to official data, men account for 52.4 percent of all dengue infections reported this year, while women comprise 47.6 percent of the cases.

Health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as seasonal rainfall and favourable breeding conditions for mosquitoes raise concerns over a potential increase in infections in the coming weeks.

Bangladesh experienced a significant dengue outbreak in 2025, when the country recorded 102,861 cases and 413 deaths linked to the mosquito-borne disease, according to DGHS records.

Public health experts have repeatedly urged people to take preventive measures, including eliminating stagnant water sources and maintaining proper sanitation, to curb the spread of the disease.
