The government has allocated parliamentary responsibilities among ministers for various ministries and divisions in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, while also designating alternatives to perform the duties in the absence of the respective ministers.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Monday (August 24), signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani.
According to the notification, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will handle the parliamentary affairs of the Prime Minister’s Office. In his absence, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Minister for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare AZM Zahid Hossain, and Industries, Textiles and Jute, and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir will perform the duties in that order.
Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has been assigned the parliamentary affairs of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, with State Minister Mir Shahe Alam designated as his alternate.
Food Minister Afroza Khanam will oversee the parliamentary affairs of the Ministry of Food, with Agriculture and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid as her alternate.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Andalib Rahman will handle his ministry’s parliamentary affairs, while State Minister Yaser Khan Chowdhury will act in his absence.
M Rashiduzzaman Millat has been assigned the parliamentary affairs of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, with State Minister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin as his alternate.
Saching Pru will handle the parliamentary affairs of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, with Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin designated to act in his absence.
The notification said the new arrangements would remain effective until further orders, while other provisions of earlier notifications would remain unchanged.
