Algeria has expressed its commitment to expanding cooperation with Bangladesh in business, finance, culture and diplomacy, highlighting shared values of peaceful coexistence and mutual development.
Speaking at an event marking Algeria’s Independence Day and Youth Day, Ambassador Abdelouahab Saidani noted that July 5 commemorates Algeria’s independence in 1962 after 132 years of colonial rule and honours the young people who played a pivotal role in the country’s liberation struggle.
Referring to this year’s theme, “The Legacy of Generations,” the ambassador said Algeria’s independence movement remains a global symbol of resilience, justice and freedom.
He reiterated that Algeria’s foreign policy is guided by the principles of self-determination, non-alignment, respect for sovereignty and support for just causes.
Highlighting Algeria’s growing economic potential, Saidani invited Bangladeshi businesses to explore investment opportunities in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, energy, information technology and other emerging sectors.
He also praised the Bangladesh-Algeria Business Forum for strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties.
The ambassador underscored the historic friendship between the two nations, recalling that Algeria was the first Arab country to officially recognise Bangladesh’s independence in 1971.
