An Air Astra domestic flight carrying 70 passengers made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday after developing a technical fault shortly after take-off.
The flight was operating on the Dhaka-Chattogram route and departed from the capital around noon.
According to airport sources, the pilot detected a mechanical problem in one of the aircraft’s engines within two to three minutes of take-off. Following standard safety procedures, the pilot declared an emergency and returned the aircraft to Dhaka.
The plane landed safely, and all passengers disembarked without injury.
The passengers were later transferred to another Air Astra flight to continue their journey to Chattogram.
The aircraft was grounded for a technical inspection after the incident.
Air Astra has not yet disclosed the exact nature of the mechanical fault, while aviation authorities had not issued a detailed statement on the cause of the malfunction at the time of reporting.
