The chiefs of Bangladesh’s three armed services paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban on Tuesday.
Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Khondkar Misbah-ul-Azim and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan met the president around noon and congratulated him on assuming office.
During the meeting, the service chiefs briefed the president on the activities and ongoing programmes of their respective forces. They also sought his guidance and support as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
President Mirza Fakhrul expressed satisfaction with the activities of the armed forces and said the government was working to build a modern, four-dimensional military.
He assured the service chiefs that he would continue to provide maximum support for the overall development of the armed forces and for enhancing the professional skills of their personnel during his tenure.
