Bangladeshi applicants waiting for family-based green cards in the United States have received a major boost, with significant progress in the F2A visa category in the August Visa Bulletin.
The F2A category covers spouses and unmarried children under 21 of US lawful permanent residents, commonly known as green card holders.
According to the US Department of State’s August Visa Bulletin, the F2A Final Action Date for applicants from Bangladesh and other countries under “All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed” advanced to July 22, 2026, from January 1, 2025 in July.
The change represents an advance of more than 18 months in a single month.
As a result, applicants with an F2A priority date before July 22, 2026 may be eligible for immigrant visa issuance in August, subject to meeting all other requirements and completing the necessary procedures.
Under US visa rules, applicants whose priority dates are earlier than the applicable Final Action Date can be considered for visa issuance during that month.
The sharp movement is significant for families who have waited years to reunite permanently in the United States. However, the August advancement does not guarantee similar progress in future months. Visa cut-off dates can move forward, remain unchanged or retrogress depending on visa availability, demand and the number of applicants.
Bangladeshi applicants should therefore check their priority dates and follow instructions from the National Visa Center or the relevant US immigration authorities to complete the required procedures.
