Five more people, including children, have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh, raising the total death toll to 955 since March 15.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its regular measles situation report on Thursday (August 27) that three deaths from measles-like symptoms were reported in Dhaka division and two in Sylhet division over the past 24 hours.
During the same period, 75 new measles cases were detected, while another 956 people developed measles-like symptoms.
Since March 15, a total of 153,692 people have developed measles-like symptoms, while 18,726 confirmed measles cases have been recorded nationwide.
Of the 955 deaths, 856 were among people with measles-like symptoms and 99 were confirmed measles cases.
The DGHS said 134,437 people have been hospitalised with measles or related symptoms since March 15. So far, 129,489 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
