Three friends killed in Bhanga road crash

Three young men from the same village were killed in a road accident in Bhanga, Faridpur, after their motorcycle collided head-on with an unidentified vehicle.

The accident occurred around 8:30pm on Saturday (August 29) in the Naopara area, near the Bhanga Upazila Livestock Office on the Faridpur-Barishal highway. One of the victims died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries later while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The deceased were Chayan Molla, 23, son of Dalil Uddin Molla; Sajib, 22, also known as Siam, son of Azgar Sheikh; and Nayan Molla, 21, son of Enayet Molla. All three were from Hasan Hati village under Laskardia Union in Nagarkanda upazila.

According to locals, the three friends had travelled from Nagarkanda to Bhanga to visit the Bhanga roundabout. They were returning home when the accident occurred.

Bhanga Highway Police Sub-Inspector Md Sohel Khan said the motorcycle carrying the three friends collided head-on with an unidentified vehicle coming from the opposite direction in Naopara. One victim died instantly, while the other two sustained critical injuries.

Police rescued the injured and took them to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Chayan dead. Nayan and Siam were later transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and subsequently to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their conditions deteriorated. They died while receiving treatment at around 1am.

Police have yet to identify the vehicle involved in the crash and are working to trace it. Legal proceedings have been initiated, police said.
