Dhaka: A total of 522 people were arrested in the past 24 hours during regular drives conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in the capital. During the same period, 25 cases were filed.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Akter Hossain disclosed the information on Sunday (August 30) morning.
He said, “They were arrested during raids conducted in different police station areas across the capital, during which various evidence and drugs were also recovered. Legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway.”
Akter Hossain said the arrests included 51 by the Ramna Division, 38 by the Lalbagh Division, 48 by the Wari Division, 64 by the Motijheel Division, 76 by the Tejgaon Division, 168 by the Mirpur Division, 34 by the Gulshan Division, 43 by the Uttara Division and one by the Detective Branch.
He said that during the drives, police recovered 4,054 yaba pills, 346 grams of cannabis, 100 grams of gold, two knives, nine mobile phones and rescued one victim.
