Sergio Gor, the US special envoy for South and Central Asian affairs and US ambassador to India, has said that Bangladesh has committed to purchasing more Boeing aircraft from the United States.
He made the remarks while praising US President Donald Trump in a post on X on Sunday (August 30) night.
In the post, Gor described President Trump as the biggest “jobs” president in American history. He said Trump was working tirelessly every day to create millions of high-paying jobs, attract trillions of dollars in investment, and revive the US economy.
Gor also said that President Trump and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh had reached “another incredible deal” this week.
“Bangladesh has committed to spending billions of dollars to purchase more Boeing aircraft, significantly increasing their initial order,” Gor wrote. “Our president is making America and our partners great again.”
Under a tariff agreement with the United States, Bangladesh had earlier committed to purchasing 25 aircraft from US-based Boeing.
As part of that commitment, Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed a final agreement on May 1 to purchase 14 aircraft from Boeing. The aircraft are expected to cost $3.7 billion, equivalent to Tk 45,408 crore, based on an exchange rate of Tk 122.73 per US dollar.
