Standard Chartered Bangladesh has appointed Enamul Huque as its Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026.

Huque brings 25 years of experience with Standard Chartered across Corporate and Institutional Banking and Risk Management, having worked in Bangladesh and other markets.

During his career with the bank, he has developed expertise across Local Corporates, Commodity Trading and Agribusiness, Global Subsidiaries and Financial Institutions. He has also led strategic client relationships and landmark transactions across a wide range of sectors.

“It is an honour to be appointed as the CEO for Standard Chartered Bangladesh. This Bank has been my professional identity for over 25 years,” Huque said in response to his appointment.

“Taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer of our Bangladesh franchise is both a recognition, and a big responsibility,” he said.

He said his priority would be to strengthen Standard Chartered’s role as an international bank connecting Bangladesh with global markets while remaining focused on clients, regulators, communities and other stakeholders.

“My priority will be to continue to be the super connector international bank, invested in the success of our clients and regulators; and to remain the trusted partner to our clients, communities and other stakeholders,” he said.

Immediately before taking over as CEO, Huque served as Country Chief Risk Officer and Senior Credit Officer from April 2025. In that role, he oversaw risk management across the Bangladesh franchise and ensured alignment with regulatory requirements and the bank’s growth ambitions.

Outside his professional career, he enjoys travelling and has a keen interest in the arts.
