A passenger boat sank after colliding with a ferry in the Bhairab River near Jailkhana Ghat in Khulna on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred at around 9:45pm when the boat, carrying around 30–35 passengers, collided with a ferry in the middle of the river.
The impact caused the boat to sink, throwing passengers into the water.
Local residents, Fire Service personnel, river police and Coast Guard members immediately launched a rescue operation.
Around 35 passengers were rescued alive, and no deaths or missing persons had been reported initially.
The sunken boat had not yet been recovered, while authorities continued monitoring the area because of strong currents in the river.
