The vehicle carrying Public Administration and Food State Minister Abdul Bari veered off the road and ended up in a roadside paddy field in Shibganj upazila of Bogura on Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:45am in front of Kichak Bridge in the upazila. The minister remained unharmed, while a female pedestrian named Firoza was injured in the incident.
According to police and local sources, Abdul Bari was travelling from Dhaka to Joypurhat on Friday morning. When his convoy reached the Kichak Bridge area, a female pedestrian, identified as Firoza, suddenly came in front of the minister’s vehicle.
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid hitting her, causing it to veer off the road and enter the adjacent paddy field. Firoza was injured in the incident.
Shortly after the accident, the minister and his wife left for Joypurhat in another vehicle. Efforts were underway to bring the damaged vehicle back onto the road.
Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahinuzzaman confirmed the incident, saying the minister’s vehicle veered off the road while he was travelling to Joypurhat.
“The minister was not injured and reached Joypurhat safely. However, a pedestrian who was present at the scene was injured,” he said.
