There are moments in football when silence speaks louder than words. After the final whistle, millions of Brazilian hearts were left carrying the same sense of disappointment, and many of those hearts are in Bangladesh.

Brazil’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Paulo F. D. Feres, shared the sentiment in a message to the media, thanking Bangladeshi supporters for their unwavering passion for the Brazilian national team despite its World Cup exit.

“To the extraordinary supporters of Brazil in this country, I offer my heartfelt thanks. Thank you for wearing our colours, raising our flag, singing for our team and believing in Brazil with such genuine passion. Your unwavering support means a great deal to the Brazilian people,” he said.

Describing football as an integral part of Brazil’s identity, the ambassador said the defeat was deeply painful because the game represents far more than sport for Brazilians.

“It is woven into our childhood memories, family traditions, music, joy and dreams. And sometimes, it also brings heartbreak. Yet heartbreak is part of every great love, and the bond between Brazil and football has endured many difficult nights,” he said.

Feres said Brazil’s football leadership remains focused on the future. He noted that national team coach Carlo Ancelotti and Brazilian Football Confederation coordinator Rodrigo Caetano have both described the setback as the beginning of a new cycle built on renewal, commitment, patience and confidence.

“Brazil will rise again, not because defeat is easy to accept, but because resilience is part of who we are,” he said.

The ambassador also expressed gratitude to Bangladeshi fans who have embraced Brazil as their favourite team for generations.
“Your affection is a priceless gift. It reminds us that football has the unique power to unite people across oceans, languages and cultures,” he said.

Expressing confidence in Brazil’s return to the top, Feres concluded: “The yellow jersey will shine again. The music will return. The joy will return. And when Brazil stands tall once more, we will remember those who stood beside us during one of our darkest nights.”
