A fire broke out in the basement of the Government Officers’ Quarters in Mirpur-6 in the capital on Monday night.
Six units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence are working to bring the blaze under control.
The information was confirmed by Rakibul Hasan, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room.
He said the fire was reported at 8:02 pm, and the first firefighting unit reached the scene at 8:14 pm and began operations. A total of six units are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze originated in the building’s basement. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known.
No casualties have been reported so far.
