President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has arrived in his home district of Thakurgaon on a two-day visit, his first trip there since assuming office as president.
He left Dhaka by helicopter at around 12:00pm on Sunday (September 6) and landed at the Mohammad Ali Stadium ground in Thakurgaon at around 1:00pm.
The president then proceeded to the district Circuit House, where he is scheduled to be accorded a guard of honour.
Extensive preparations have been made across Thakurgaon ahead of the president’s two-day official visit. Important roads and key establishments in the town have been decorated with ceremonial gates and lighting.
Security measures have also been strengthened across the district to ensure the president’s safety.
On the first day of his visit, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to visit Senura Cemetery to pay respects at the graves of his parents.
He is also expected to attend a civic reception and participate in several other programmes.
This is the president’s first visit to his home district since taking office. His arrival has generated considerable excitement among local residents, many of whom are eager to welcome him and catch a glimpse of the president.
