Hasan Ali, Hili (DINAJPUR): India will continue to cooperate in strengthening trade and friendly relations between Bangladesh and India, said Manoj Kumar, Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Rajshahi.
He made the remarks on Sunday afternoon during a visit to the Hili Land Port in Dinajpur.
Kumar arrived in Hili by road from Rajshahi and was welcomed with flowers by the Hakeempur upazila administration. He later visited the zero line of the Hili border and exchanged greetings with members of the border security forces of both countries. Leaders of local business organisations also welcomed him with flowers.
After the inspection, Kumar attended a meeting with importers, exporters and business leaders at the Hili Dak Bungalow, where he was the chief guest.
He said import-export activities could play an important role in further strengthening the existing people-to-people contacts and friendly relations between the two countries.
“Problems hindering the expansion of trade will be discussed with the relevant higher authorities, and initiatives will be taken to resolve them quickly,” he said.
Hakeempur Upazila Nirbahi Officer George Mitra Chakma, Bangla Hili C&F Agents Association President Md Ferdous Rahman, General Secretary Shahinur Islam Shahin Mondal, Joint Secretary SM Reza Bipul, Importers-Exporters Group General Secretary Md Nazmul Hossain, Hakeempur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Zakir Hossain and other business leaders were present at the meeting.
