Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on Tuesday said the government plans to recruit 100,000 healthcare workers across the country.
Speaking to reporters, he said there is healthy competition between the public and private healthcare sectors.
“The quality of services in the private healthcare sector is comparatively better, while the public healthcare system is lagging behind to some extent. However, the government is working to address these shortcomings,” said the minister.
He added that the current budget has placed special emphasis on the health sector, with priority given to everything from medical equipment to healthcare entrepreneurs.
The minister also said that a government elected by the people is committed to ensuring quality healthcare services for all citizens.
