Fatema Tuz Zohra, mother of July uprising martyr Abdullah Bin Jahid, met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday along with her cancer-stricken son, Mahmudullah Bin Jisan, at the Prime Minister’s office in the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister assured her of job support, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.
Member Secretary of Amra BNP Poribar, Krishibid Mokhsedul Momin Mithun, was also present.
Abdullah Bin Jahid was shot dead on the night of August 5, 2024, during the July uprising.
Just two weeks later, the family was dealt another blow when his younger brother, Mahmudullah Bin Jisan, was diagnosed with cancer. Seven months on, the family also lost the children’s father.
The succession of tragedies plunged the family into severe financial hardship, particularly as the cost of Jisan’s treatment continued to rise.
According to the Press Wing, Tarique Rahman had extended support to the family even before assuming office, during his tenure as BNP Acting Chairman. Assistance for Jisan’s treatment was arranged through Amra BNP Poribar.
Since then, the organisation has been coordinating Jisan’s treatment under the supervision of Atiqur Rahman, now Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister.
The Press Wing added that the Prime Minister has been closely monitoring Jisan’s condition and ensuring continued support for his medical care.
